Scuba diving in Indonesia is perhaps some of the finest scuba diving in the world, and certainly the most abundant in terms of sheer numbers of species. The variety of dive sites is something to behold and includes anything from wall dives, possibly the best muck dives in the world, seagrass beds, coral gardens, towering volcanic rock formations, and even wreck sites. Diving in Indonesia is still relatively unknown, with perhaps more sites still left to discover and explore than sites we know about; and yet with the pieces of information we have, the exceptional quality of Indonesian scuba diving is so clearly apparent.
The Republic of Indonesia is situated in South East Asia, between the Indian and Pacific Oceans. It is the largest archipelagic island in the world, extending over 5000 km from east to west and 1760 km from north to south. Diving in Indonesia offers so much as the archipelago comprises more than a staggering 13000 islands.
